Safety & Training Certification Programs
Here at NPAC, we offer trusted certification programs led by certified American Red Cross instructors. Our team brings professional training, strong safety knowledge and hands-on experience to every class, helping participants build confidence and gain essential skills for a wide range of safety situations.
Whether you are looking to gain lifesaving skills, earn a certification for work or learn how to respond in an emergency, our courses are designed to support all skill levels. Participants receive high-quality instruction, guided practice and the tools needed to succeed in a safe and encouraging environment.

Lifeguard Certification
The North Port Aquatic Center is hosting a public American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course for individuals seeking training in lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and first aid for professional rescuers. Participants who pass all requirements will receive a certificate issued by the American Red Cross, valid for two years.
Date: Sept. 29, Sept. 30, and Oct. 1
Time: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. each day
Locations: North Port Aquatic Center, 6205 W. Price Blvd.
Pre-registration is required.
Prerequisite Skills Evaluations
All participants must complete two prerequisite evaluations to remain in the course.
Prerequisite 1: Swim–Tread–Swim Sequence (continuous, no resting)

Jump into the water, fully submerge, then resurface.

Swim 150 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Goggles are allowed.

Immediately tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Hands must stay above the surface.

Swim an additional 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
Prerequisite 2: Timed Event (1 minute, 40 seconds)

Begin in the water with the face in or out. Swim 20 yards.

Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7–10 feet and retrieve a 10-pound object.

Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to the starting point while carrying the object at the surface with both hands. Keep the face out or near the surface for breathing.

Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Certification
Participants who pass the prerequisites, skills exam, and final exam will receive an American Red Cross certificate in lifeguarding (including deep water), CPR/AED, and First Aid for Professional Rescuers. The certification is valid for two years.
First Aid, CPR & AED
This five-hour American Red Cross-certified hands-on class prepares students to recognize and respond appropriately to a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving children and adults. First Aid, CPR & AED training meets OSHA workplace requirements. At the successful completion of this course, participants receive a digital certification for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
Class size is limited to 10 participants. Registration is required.

Babysitter Certification & CPR
Develop your skills and assist others by providing a highly sought-after service: childcare! In partnership with the American Red Cross, this course provides training in pediatric first aid and CPR, builds your leadership skills, and gives you the knowledge to safely care for children and infants. Participants earn a First Aid/CPR certificate valid for 2 years.
Registration is required. Must attend both sessions.

Professional Rescuer CPR/First Aid/AED
This is a great class for both parents and childcare professionals. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim experiencing cardiac arrest. This class will also cover the Epi-pen use as well as asthma inhalers.
Call the North Port Aquatic Center to schedule this program at 941-429-PARK (7275). The minimum class size is six (6) participants.

Jr. Lifeguard Camp
Dive into an action-packed week of lifeguarding with our Junior Lifeguard Camp! Learn the essentials of lifeguarding, master water safety and develop rescue skills. Our hands-on course covers First Aid, CPR and AED training, equipping you with life-saving skills in a fun and interactive way. By the end of the week, you'll be prepared to make waves as a Junior Lifeguard, with opportunities to volunteer at NPAC and gain real-world experience by shadowing our professional lifeguards. At the successful completion of this course, participants receive a digital certificate for First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
