T-REC brings teens and adults with disabilities together through inclusive recreational experiences built around shared interests, movement and connection. Participants can enjoy activities in a welcoming environment where they are encouraged to take part at their own comfort level.

Sessions may include sports, games, arts and crafts, themed events or community outings. The variety gives participants opportunities to explore new interests, practice leisure skills and build confidence while staying active and creative.

Just as important, T-REC creates space for conversation and friendship. Participants can meet new people, enjoy familiar activities and feel more connected to their community. Caregivers and family members are welcome and encouraged to join the experience.

The North Port Parks & Recreation Department works in collaboration with local organizations to form the T-REC Coalition of Sarasota County, offering inclusive recreational programs for individuals with special needs. This coalition, made up of more than eight agencies, provides year-round activities for teens and adults with disabilities, including dances and sporting events at various venues. T-REC fosters opportunities to socialize, learn leisure skills and connect with the community in a fun, supportive environment. Teens, adults, caregivers, and family members are encouraged to join the activities. Check out the list of upcoming local T-REC opportunities below or visit the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources website for more information about upcoming events and activities throughout Sarasota County.
