FDOT to begin I-75 interchange improvements
Published on March 31, 2026
Heads up, North Port drivers! Expect lane and ramp closures at the I-75 interchanges for both Sumter Boulevard (Exit 182) and Toledo Blade Boulevard next week. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is leading this improvement project—not the City of North Port.
Starting the week of April 6, FDOT crews will begin early construction work, including conduit installation and prep for drilled shaft installation. Depending on weather and underground conditions, you may see:
· Lane closures on I-75 ramps between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
· Full ramp closures between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
· Single lane closures on Sumter Blvd. and Toledo Blade Blvd. from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
· Double lane closures from 8 p.m.–6 a.m.
The improvements will include new traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalks, better lighting and additional lanes to make travel through both interchanges smoother and safer once the project wraps up (expected in early 2027).
Please drive carefully through the area and watch for workers and construction vehicles.
