'Splash into Summer' with free admission to the Aquatic Center
Published on April 09, 2026
Summer fun meets lifesaving education at the annual Splash into Summer & MayDay Drowning Prevention Expo, returning Saturday, May 9, at the North Port Aquatic Center. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers free admission for North Port residents.
Designed with families in mind, this day of aquatic fun also delivers an important message about staying safe in, on and around the water. While enjoying the slides, pools and lazy river, attendees can connect with local organizations and safety partners who will be sharing practical tips and resources focused on drowning prevention.
Florida continues to see a high number of unintentional drowning incidents each year, making water safety education more important than ever. Through hands-on engagement and community partnerships, the MayDay Drowning Prevention Expo aims to give families the tools and confidence to enjoy the water safely.
“This event is about more than just a day at the pool,” said Devon Poulos, Aquatics Manager for North Port Parks & Recreation. “It’s an opportunity to bring the community together, raise awareness and help families build safe habits that can make a lasting difference.”
Admission is first-come, first-served, and no registration is required. For complimentary admission, North Port residents must show proof of residency, such as a state-issued ID or utility bill. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Non-residents may enter by paying the daily admission rate or using a North Port Aquatic Center membership.
