Beginning Sept. 14, the City of North Port’s contractor will implement temporary intersection closures and detours along Price Boulevard to facilitate water main installation as part of the Price Boulevard Widening Project.

The first closure will occur on Cranberry Boulevard at Price Boulevard, on the north side of the intersection. The closure is expected to be in place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately two to three days.

During the closure:

  • Southbound Cranberry Boulevard traffic will be detoured via Lucaya Avenue, N. Waconia Street and Price Boulevard.
  • Northbound Cranberry Boulevard traffic will be detoured via Price Boulevard, S. Wapello Street and Lucaya Avenue.

After completing the Cranberry Boulevard work, the contractor will begin water main installation on the north side of the Chamberlain Boulevard and Price Boulevard intersection. This closure is also expected to last approximately two to three days.

During the Chamberlain Boulevard closure:

  • Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured via Price Boulevard, McCrory Street and Zellwood Terrace.

Detour signs will be posted along the designated routes to help guide motorists. During these temporary closures, motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists will not be able to cross Price Boulevard at the affected intersections. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time, as delays may occur.

The temporary intersection closures are necessary to safely install water main pipes. A water main is a large underground pipe that transports clean, treated water throughout an area, with smaller service lines branching from the main to provide water to homes and businesses.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates regarding detours and construction activities will be posted on the project website.
