North Port Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of general interest classes, provide something for everyone and every age! From scrapbooking to BINGLO Family Game Night, we are sure you will find a favorite activity to do here. Arts & Rec

Discover your creative side through our monthly art program, in collaboration with the North Port Art Center. Each month, create a new masterpiece, using a variety of mediums and guided by inspiring themes. Open to beginners, advanced and experimental artists. This program encourages creative exploration and artistic growth in a fun, welcoming environment.

All classes are on Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. at the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 W. Price Blvd.

Babysitter Certification & CPR

Develop your skills and assist others by providing a highly sough-after service: childcare! In partnership with the American Red Cross, this course provides training in pediatric first aid and CPR, builds your leadership skills, and gives you the knowledge to safely care for children and infants. Participants earn a First Aid/CPR certificate valid for 2 years.

Registration is required. Must attend both days.

Badge Factory

Complete your troop, pack or individual Scout projects with us! Our expert staff will help you organize projects to fit your needs. Our goal is to make learning enjoyable while helping your group earn cooking, archery, fitness, or other Scout badges.

First Aid, CPR & AED

This five-hour American Red Cross-certified hands-on class prepares students to recognize and respond appropriately to a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving children and adults. First Aid, CPR & AED training meets OSHA workplace requirements. At the successful completion of this course, participants receive a digital certification for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. 

Class size is limited to 10 participants. Registration is required.

Kids Night Out

Want to enjoy an evening without the kids? Sign them up for our Kids Night Out! Kids will enjoy an evening of fun games, arts & crafts and a light dinner in a safe, supervised environment while parents get a well-deserved break and an opportunity for holiday shopping.

Pre-registration is required. Designed for students in grades K-5.

Kids Day Out

School’s out? No problem! Register your child(ren) for Kids Day Out on January 17, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and give them a day filled with excitement and adventure! This action-packed "daycation" is designed to keep kids engaged, active and inspired with hands-on arts and crafts, wild science experiments, outdoor adventures, and games galore. It’s like all the best parts of summer camp rolled into one unforgettable day!

Not only will kids make new friends and explore their creativity, but they’ll also build confidence, develop teamwork skills and stay active in a fun, safe environment. This is an opportunity for your child to enjoy a day filled with laughter, learning and boundless energy!

Registration is available in-person at the Morgan Family Community Center (6207 W. Price Blvd.) or at George Mullen Activity Center (1602 Kramer Way).

Parent/Guardian resources

For parents and guardians who need it, extended care services are available both in the morning and afternoon. The cost is $5 for morning care, $5 for afternoon care, or $10 for both.

  • Morning extended care hours: 7-8:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon extended care hours: 4:30-6 p.m.
  • During extended care time, low-key, self-directed activities are available for participants.

Youth Scholarship Program

A limited amount of funds is available from the Youth Scholarship Program to help families offset program fees. Please contact Parks & Recreation if you would like to apply for a scholarship or if you’d like to make a donation! Funds are awarded based on eligibility criteria and are contingent upon donations received to the scholarship fund. Masterchef Jr. Cooking Class

Learn how fun and easy cooking can be! Students will learn to make delicious recipes, from main courses to desserts and snacks, with plenty of tasting along the way.

Midday Hangout

Does your child love to play and make new friends? This home school program offers fun, structured activities like sports, games and crafts, perfect for kids who love playing and making friends. Children under 12 must have parental supervision.

Scrapbooking

Paper crafting workshops include scrapbook layouts, card making and special projects. Participants may bring their own supplies and/or purchase supplies from the instructor.

Relax-A-Float

Looking for a relaxing time to enjoy the lazy river when the water park typically isn’t open? Join us for Relax-a-Float! Thisbonusprogram is open to those ages 18+ who are visiting the North Port Aquatic Center for the day, offering a peaceful way to float along the Relaxahatchee Lazy River—without the usual excitement of a busy water park.

Board Game Blitz

Drop-in every Monday for a casual board game program open to players of all skill levels. Choose from a variety of classic games including American Mahjong, Chinese Mahjong, Scrabble, Chess, and Checkers. It's the perfect way to challenge your mind, meet new people and have fun.

K-9 Connections

Lookin to help your pup feel more confident and well-behaved when out and about? This 30-minute session, led by trainers from the North Port Rescue Garage, packed with practical tips and tricks to improve your dog's manners and ease in public spaces. After the training, enjoy a relaxed 30-minute group walk where your dog can socialize and you can meet fellow dog owners.

This event is perfect for building your dog's skills and making outings more enjoyable for everyone involved. Please ensure your dog has necessary vaccinations and shot records to participate.

Little Mariner's Lazy River Race

Get ready for an exciting, hands-on adventure for the whole family! In this fun-filled STEM challenge, participants will design and build their own boats at home using plastic, foam, cardboard, or other approved materials. Then put your creation to the test and race them down the lazy river at the North Port Aquatic Center.
