The City of North Port is seeking nominations for its annual Greenest Citizen Award, which recognizes a North Port resident who has gone above and beyond to protect the environment by creating a more sustainable household or community.

The Greenest Citizen Award was created to allow residents to decide who they think should be recognized for outstanding environmental stewardship.

"The Greenest Citizen Award recognizes the individuals who quietly make an extraordinary difference; from planting Florida-friendly landscapes to encouraging neighbors to care for our natural spaces. By honoring these environmental champions on Arbor Day, we’re celebrating the power of community stewardship and the lasting impact one person can have on North Port’s natural future," Natural Resources Division Manager Stefan Kalev said.

The award winner will be invited to plant a memorial tree to commemorate the previous year’s winner on Arbor Day.

The nomination period is open until March 16, and nominees can be submitted online at NorthPortFL.gov/Greenest.
