City of North Port seeks nominations for Greenest Citizen

The City of North Port is seeking nominations for its annual Greenest Citizen Award, which recognizes a North Port resident who has gone above and beyond to protect the environment by creating a more sustainable household or community.

The Greenest Citizen Award was created to allow residents to decide who they think should be recognized for outstanding environmental stewardship.

"A standout trait of North Port residents is their passion for the environment and the nature surrounding them," Natural Resources Division Manager Stefan Kalev said. "The Greenest Citizen Award gives us a chance to recognize a resident making a significant difference in the community."

The award winner will be invited to plant a memorial tree to commemorate the previous year’s winner. They will also be recognized at a future City Commission meeting.

The nomination period is open until March 16, and nominees can be submitted online at NorthPortFL.gov/Greenest.
