A sign that says Sarasota Memorial Hospital coming soon

Sarasota Memorial Hospital has updated its concrete-pouring schedule this month for its North Port campus project.

Concrete pours will take place this month on:

July 15 - starting at 1 a.m.

July 16 - starting at 3 a.m.

July 21 - starting at 3 a.m.

July 24 - starting at 3 a.m.

July 28 - starting at 1 a.m.

For overnight operations, traffic control will include:

  • Communication with the North Port Police Department detail team
  • A dedicated flagman on-site to manage movement and safety
  • Cement trucks staged on-site to minimize disruption
  • Dispatching trucks in controlled intervals (two at a time every 15-30 minutes)

The pours are necessary to maintain the project schedule, ensure proper concrete curing time and conditions in Florida’s climate and minimize traffic congestion and safety impacts along Sumter Boulevard during peak daytime hours.

The City Commission approved SMH’s request to conduct this work at its Jan. 13, 2026, meeting.
