To raise awareness and promote water safety, the North Port Parks & Recreation Department is hosting the Splash into Summer & MayDay Drowning Prevention Expo on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the North Port Aquatic Center (6205 W. Price Blvd.). This family-friendly event is open to the public, with North Port residents receiving free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry is first-come, first-served, and no registration is required. Residents must provide proof of residency (such as a state-issued ID or utility bill), and children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Drowning remains a significant concern in Florida, which consistently ranks among the states with the highest unintentional drowning rates. To help combat this issue, local vendors will be on-site for the MayDay Drowning Prevention Expo providing valuable drowning prevention resources and lifesaving water safety tips to help families stay safe in and around water.

“This marks our sixth year hosting this event, and we remain committed to educating our community about water safety,” said Devon Poulos, Aquatics Manager with North Port Parks & Recreation. “Our goal is to equip families and children with the knowledge and skills to remain safe in, on and around the water.”
