Special Operations

North Port has a Technical Rescue Team (TRT) which functions as a Type II Light Technical Rescue Team (FL-TRT645) under the State of Florida's Urban Search And Rescue program.

Team members have specialized training five technical rescue disciplines. Those disciplines include: Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structural Collapse Rescue, Trench Rescue, and Vehicle and Machinery Rescue. In the near future, this will also include Urban Flood Water Rescue, and Wilderness Search and Rescue.

Each of North Port Fire Rescue's three shifts has one Rescue Squad Leader assigned to it. When the team deploys, it responds with 6 team members with Truck 84 (or reserve pumper) and the team's utility truck and equipment trailer which carries the State-issued rescue equipment cache.
