The City of North Port Parks & Recreation Department invites the community to join swimmers around the globe on Thursday, June 25, for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at the North Port Aquatic Center, 6205 W. Price Blvd. This free international event brings communities together with one shared goal: promoting water safety and helping prevent drowning through swim lessons.

Let’s make North Port Aquatic Center’s World’s Largest Swimming Lesson the biggest yet! Two lesson sessions will be offered at the North Port Aquatic Center from 8 to 8:45 a.m. and 5 to 5:45 p.m. Registration is not required, but appreciated.

Designed for all ages and skill levels, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson teaches important water safety skills while helping participants build confidence in and around water. Each participant becomes part of a worldwide effort reinforcing the message that swim lessons save lives.

“Water safety starts with education, and swim lessons can make a life-saving difference,” Aquatics Supervisor Katie Meier said. “This event is a fun opportunity for families to come together, learn important safety skills and be part of something happening across the world all at the same time.”

The event is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to drowning prevention and community wellness as a continuation to May’s Drowning Prevention Awareness Month. Families are encouraged to continue building their swim skills through the department’s Learn to Swim program, which serves participants from infancy through adulthood.
