North Port Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of general interest classes, provide something for everyone and every age! From scrapbooking to BINGLO Family Game Night, we are sure you will find a favorite activity to do here. Arts & Rec

Together with the North Port Art Center, this instructor-led class will have you creating a different masterpiece each week. You will get to experience a variety of mediums and themes.  Designed for beginners, advanced and experimental artists! Registration is recommended; $8 fee. Classes are designed for grades K-5, however we encourage parents to join in the fun!

Classes take place at the Morgan Family Community Center on Saturdays from 10-11 a.m.
Class dates: Dec. 9, 2023, Jan. 27, 2024, Feb. 17, Mar. 2, Apr. 6, May 4, Jun. 1, Jul. 13, Aug. 3, and Sep. 7 (subject to change)

Baby Ballerinas

Music, movement, crafts and the basic dance steps are introduced in this class. Dance wear and ballet shoes are required. Optional performance in "North Port's Got Talent." Class is limited to 12. Pre-registration is required; $50 fee. Class is for students ages 2-4. 

Classes take place at the Morgan Family Community Center:
Mondays, April 8-May 6 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Saturdays, April 13-May 11 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Badge Factory

Complete your troop, pack or individual scout project with us! Our expert staff will help you organize projects to fit your needs. Our goal is to make learning enjoyable while helping your group earn cooking, archery, fitness, or other Scout badges. Minimum of 8 participants. For children age 5+, by appointment only. $3-5 per person.  Location varies depending on needs. 

 

BINGLO Family Game Night

Who is ready to shout "BINGLO!" Our Binglo Family Night brings music, black lights and games all together in one action-packed night. Dress to impress in your best neon clothing and get ready to win. Pre-registration is required. Program is for all ages; $15/10-card pack.

Kids Night Out

Want to enjoy an evening without the kids? Sign them up for our Kids Night Out (KNO)! Kids will enjoy an evening of fun games, arts & crafts and a light dinner in a safe, supervised environment while parents get a well-deserved break. Pre-registration is required, $15 fee. Event for children in grades K-5.

Masterchef Jr. Cooking Class

Learn how fun and easy cooking can be! Students will learn to make delicious recipes, from main courses to desserts and snacks, with plenty of tasting along the way. Space is limited; pre-registration required; $50 fee. Class is for children ages 10-15.

Classes take place at the Morgan Family Community Center:
Fridays, May 3-24 from 6-8 p.m.
Fridays, Aug. 9-30 from 6-8 p.m.

 

Scrapbooking

Paper crafting workshops include scrapbook layouts, card making and special projects. Participants may bring their own supplies and/or purchase supplies from the instructor. Registration is recommended. Program takes place once a month, starting Sunday, Jan. 28 - June 6 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $20 per session. Program for ages 16+.

Teen Talk

Hey Teens! Get ready for some serious fun at the Morgan Family Community Center! We want you to join us. Imagine this — hanging out with friends, trying out cool activities, sharing ideas and having a say in our upcoming events. Plus, we've got refreshments covered. For teens in grade 6-12, Free program.

Tot Time

Bring your little ones to the George Mullen Activity Center to play and interact with other tots on a drop-in basis. This is a great opportunity for your child to begin learning early social skills. Play equipment includes balls, riding toys, giant foam blocks and a manipulative station. For toddlers ages 1-5, $3 resident/$4 non-resident fee. Ongoing through May 23; every Tuesday and Thursday.
