City responds to DOGE letter from Office of Governor

The City of North Port recently confirmed with the Executive Office of the Governor's DOGE Team that we have not had any instances of financial emergency or distress and are in compliance with Florida Statutes.

The Governor's DOGE Team is focused on ensuring fiscal responsibility and sent its inquiry to local governments throughout Florida. Requested information included any fund balance deficits or failure to pay short-term loans or make debt service payments since State Fiscal Year 2018-19. The City of North Port has not experienced any of these.

As mentioned in the response, the City has had the same property tax millage rate for five years in a row. We have maintained an excellent credit rating thanks to low debt and responsible fiscal stewardship while managing public funds.
