Embark on a “Journey to the Future” with the City of North Port Parks & Recreation Department as it begins the process of updating its Parks & Recreation Master Plan. This long-term planning effort will help shape the next decade of improvements across the city’s park system, and community input is essential to the process.

Residents are being encouraged to share their vision by completing a Community Survey and attending one of several public meetings this summer. These sessions are designed to gather valuable feedback on how the City can continue to enhance parks, open spaces, programs, and recreational facilities.

“North Port is growing and evolving, and our parks system should grow with it,” said Parks & Recreation Director Sandy Pfundheller. “This Master Plan is about ensuring every resident has access to well-maintained, inclusive and inspiring spaces that support wellness and community connection.”

Public workshops will follow an open-house format, allowing attendees to drop in at any time during the scheduled window. Residents are encouraged to stop by and share their input at one of the following meetings:

  • Wednesday, July 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way
  • Thursday, July 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 W. Price Blvd.

The City is partnering with GAI Consultants and RRC Associates, third-party agencies, to assist with survey collection and planning recommendations. Working with an outside firm ensures unbiased analysis and helps provide a well-rounded strategy based on data and community priorities.

The Master Plan Community Survey will open on July 4. To learn more and complete the Community Survey, visit NorthPortFL.gov/ParksAndRecMasterPlan
