BioBlitz
Discover your inner "Citizen Scientist" with a self-guided adventure at our parks! Create a snapshot of local wildlife and contribute to the health of our ecosystem by using the iNaturalist app. Simply explore the park at your own pace, take pictures of plants, insects, and animals, and see what species are present during your visit. Your observations will contribute to a scientific inventory of pollinator species, essential to our environment.
In September, BIOBLITZ is a national campaign coordinated by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA)to raise awareness and community involvement in the pollinator crisis through local Parks & Recreation departments.
From September 1-30, North Port Parks & Recreation is teaming up with the community to identify as many species as possible at Garden of the Five Senses (4299 Pan American Blvd.). Join us on a virtual hike! Along the trail, scan QR codes to discover what can be found in each marked area and watch the related video. Be sure to log your findings in the iNaturlaist app!
