NORTH PORT, FL - To highlight an enhanced focus on protecting North Port’s environment, the City’s new Natural Resources Division is set to host a “Coffee & Conservation” listening tour. This initiative is designed to foster community engagement and gather valuable input from residents on preserving and enhancing local wildlife, trees and plants.

The Natural Resources Division is a recent addition to the City of North Port's commitment to sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. A team comprised of dedicated professionals with expertise in environmental planning and management, the division oversees and manages sustainable expansion while protecting our local natural resources.

“Our mission is to implement initiatives and regulations to help maintain sustainable growth while protecting our environment,” Natural Resources Manager Stefan Kalev said. “We look forward to visiting with the community to learn what matters most to them and how we can work together to grow with care.”

About the listening tour

The listening tour series aims to create an open and inclusive platform for residents to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas regarding the City's natural resources. The first tour event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20, with future events to follow.

The division is eager to hear from community members about their environmental priorities. Staff will have a presentation including goals, challenges and opportunities, with opportunities for public feedback. After the presentation, residents will have an opportunity to talk one-on-one with staff while enjoying coffee and snacks.
