Therapeutic Recreation

The North Port Parks & Recreation Department works with numerous local organizations forming the T-REC Coalition of Sarasota County. The coalition is dedicated to offering organized therapeutic recreational programs designed for individuals with special needs as well as offering an inclusive approach to all recreation opportunities in Sarasota County. The T-REC Coalition of Sarasota County comprises more than eight local agencies working together to provide year-round recreational opportunities for teens and adults with disabilities. Monthly activities take place at different venues throughout the county and include dances, sporting events and much more.

Teens and adults with ranging abilities, as well as caregivers and family members, are welcome to join in on the fun at T-Rec! Participants will have the opportunity to socialize with new friends, learn to play leisure activities, and engage with their community. • Jan. 26, 2024: Movie Night on the Green, George Mullen Activity Center
  5:30-6:30 p.m. — craft activity
  6:30 p.m. — movie start time (The Bad Guys)

• Apr. 19. 2024: Nature Night, George Mullen Activity Center
  5-7 p.m. — nature based activity and craft
