City of North Port launches new online permitting system

North Port, FL - The City of North Port is launching its new online permitting system, Accela Citizen Access (ACA) on Monday, Dec. 9. This user-friendly platform will streamline the permitting process for residents and contractors, offering 24/7 access to services. Key features of the new system include:

  • Free account creation
  • Ability to submit and track permit applications
  • Real-time status updates
  • Accessible on computers, smartphones, and tablets

Residents and contractors must create an account to use the new system. The dedicated permitting webpage provides a step-by-step guide and instructional video to assist users.

“We are thrilled to offer this online service to our residents and contractors,” Development Services Director Alaina Ray said. “While we are always happy to help in person, the added convenience of online permitting streamlines the process for our community and staff alike.”

Records will be migrated to the new system for applications submitted before the Accela launch. Applicants will receive an email with instructions on how to link their existing applications to their new ACA account. 

The Development Services Department office in City Hall will be closed to the public Dec. 5-9 for staff to implement the new Accela software and to accommodate construction activities within the building. While staff will be working, some within City Hall and some remote, they will be unable to accept phone calls or walk-in customers.

Beginning Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. and ending Dec. 9 at 8 a.m., no inspections can be scheduled or completed, and no permitting work can be processed.

Online permitting applications may be submitted through Accela beginning Monday, Dec. 9. The Department will reopen to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 10 for normal business operations.
